2011 Infiniti M Sedan

When it came time to create the new generation of Infiniti’s M sedan the automaker pulled out all the stops. Keeping with the company’s performance-minded idea of luxury, the new M56 boasts a 420-horsepower V-8, while the M37’s V-6 puts out 330 horsepower. The 90-horsepower difference sets the new models apart from the M35 and M45, which were only separated by 22 ponies. As the brand’s flagship, the M is available with every one of Infiniti’s high-tech driver aids except the Around View Monitor. Among those features are Blind Spot Warning and the newly developed Blind Spot Intervention, Intelligent Cruise Control, Distance Control Assist, Intelligent Brake Assist with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention.

One of the more interesting luxury items is the Forest Air system, a radical departure from standard climate control. The system modulates air flow from the vents to produce gentle breezes with optimal humidity at the temperature of your choice with the smells, smog and pollen filtered out.

Another creature-comfort feature is Active Noise Control, which cuts undesirable engine harmonics making for a quieter cabin. Returning to the performance side of the M, there’s Drive Mode Selector, which includes four settings that control throttle and transmission mapping for optimum performance; and Active Trace Control, which adjusts engine torque and controls braking at each wheel to enhance cornering performance.
